Sunday was a cold, rainy day. I was sitting in front of the log burner, watching the flames through the glass front and deciding what to do. Being Sunday – I didn’t want to “work” – I like to give myself time-out from “working” – I feel this is something really important to establish when you work from home. It very easy to be “on call” all the waking hours! But hubby was chatting on his forum, the rain was hammering down on the tin roof over the yard and so I picked up my laptop … we don’t have a TV here in Spain. “I’ll just check my e-mails”, I said to myself.
That was FATAL! Read the rest of this entry

When you first start marketing online – there is a huge amount to learn and it can seem a very twisty, winding road. The great thing is that there is a ton of information, help and “how to” available on the internet now a days.
Aside: I do remember the early days – when we were searching with Altavista (remember that?) and more times than not – you only got 5-10 results for your searches!!
Now, when I get stuck – I just “google” the problem and, more often than not, I am able to find someone who’s had the same problem, has asked the question and has gotten a reply. This is how I went about my 2 questions from my last post.
I’ve found out :- Read the rest of this entry

In “Coming Clean…” I said I was going to video what I do each day and let you have a look at it.
Well, this is proving impractical because I find I am spending more time on these videos than on my project! I ended up making videos of me editing a video with Camtasia for putting on my blog!
So, I did video the day after the last post – but have decided that my first video post should be the one where I posted the blog post.
Firstly, I am working out how to post the video here….
You will see it when I have figured it out – and I’ll video a “How to… ” for that.
Secondly, I’ve seen a real cool feature where people can comment on one’s video/blog post from within Facebook and the comments appear here on the blog! I’m trying to work that out too and will let you know “How to…” as soon as I do!
Thank you for your patience

I have got past the middle of January without posting. Is this an achievement? Everyone else posted a review of their 2011 achievements and their plans and predictions for 2012. I didn’t. Why?
Well, I just didn’t know what to write in either of these categories so I kept schtum. I have been thinking it over and realise that the reason I’m finding it so hard to post is that I want to give good value to my readers and I felt that to do this in the internet marketing field, I had to appear to know what I was talking about. Hence the posts in the “101 Listbuilding Tips” and the “10 ways that …” series. Truth be told – if you didn’t realise it already – those are PLR products that I am “serializing” and putting out as posts. (Don’t get me wrong, this is a great way to find great content but I was using ONLY PLR and nothing of my own!) This has made me feel totally disconnected from this, my blog. But this is about to change.

Many apologies for such a long delay in posting the next episode of 101 List Building Tips.
My internet marketing journey has had to take a back seat for several months due to family crises, changes in circumstances, etc. Suffice it to say that I’m back to post some really exciting tips to help you advance your own online internet marketing business.
So – let’s look at some real clangers you could make if you weren’t fore-warned!
List Building Dos and Don’ts
There are some common errors that people who are new to list building tend to make. In fact, some of these are mistakes that experienced marketers make time and time again. Correcting these mistakes can mean the difference between having a solid, unbreakable relationship with your list and having a list full of people who simply delete your e-mails and unsubscribe.
Pay close attention to these dos and don’ts to ensure your list is a success.

I had to announce to the world that I just won!
Randy Smith ran a competition to get traffic to his blog. To enter the competition I had to complete the sentence:
My Favourite Freebie I Got From Randy Smith is …
Now, usually only the established marketeers can win competitions to generate traffic and a newbie like me is left out in the cold. But Randy, being mindful of his roots in getting started himself, allocated a prize for the person sending the most traffic and then some prizes for which names would be drawn out of a hat! So that meant the I only had to be “in it” to have a chance of winning.
I posted on Facebook and Twitter – that my favourite freebie is Randy’s package of WordPress themes. I don’t know how many of my friends and followers went to Randy’s site to look for freebies but a well-deserving Keith Purkiss won the competition for generating traffic. However my name was one of the first 2 out of the hat (well, Randy admits it was a mug, but the result is the same!) and so I am now the proud owner of a Camtasia Licence!
NOW I must really get on and work on my first ever “product” for which I was going to have to buy Camtasia… no excuses now!
Thank you, Randy, for running a competition that gave newbie marketeers a chance of winning such a great prize.
